[Europe] Quick Bites and Cheap Food Around Duomo - Milan

Duomo, as a must visit landmark in Milan, it becomes the most touristy place. As usual, a place like this will have a lot of “tourist trap”, especially the food. They will sell a simple food with high price because they know every people will exhausted exploring this area and looking for any food available without looking for the price. I’ve been exploring Duomo while in Milan, and found some delicious food yet affordable around this place.

1. Luini Panzerotti
Panzerotti is a fried bread, that usually filled with cheese. Luini Panzerotti really popular and they always have a long queue. But since it’s a quick bites food, the line always move fast so you’ll not take a long time to try it. The most recommended is a “basic” panzerotti with tomato and mozarella as a filling.

2. Pizzeria Spontini
Going to Milan means you’ll find many Italian food, especially pizza. Spontini is a take away pizzeria, which always have a long queue. It’s located in front of the Ferrari store. Unlike the other pizza that i ate in Europe, Spontini’s pizza bread was thick, and it’s really soft. They don't have much option for the topping (they only have 3 options), but it's all the favorite. I ordered the Margheritta and it’s so tasty.

3. Musubi
If you’re looking for different kind of food, maybe you should try Musubi. They’re not selling Italian food. Instead, they sell Japanese food. They have some food that already packed and you can just pick it such as sushi and bento box. But if you’re looking for a hot dishes, they also have udon on their menu and it taste great.

4. Ciocolatti Italiani
Italy is always identic with gelato. There’s a lot of popular gelato, but Ciocolatti Italiani really makes me curious. They always have a long queue that reach the street outside. I bought a cone with 2 scoops of gelato, pistachio and chocolate. After eat that, i know why it’s really popular. Because it’s extremely taste good. They have a perfect sweetness level, and i’m willing to take another queue only for this gelato. Beside gelato, they also serve breakfast and lunch menu that you might want to try too.

5. Ristorante Savini
Actually, Savini is not a place for cheap eats. It’s a fine dining restaurant, located at Galeria Vittorio Emmanuele II. But i also put it on the list, because they also sell a gelato and it comes with a standard price for gelato in Milan. Beside that, i would tell their gelato really delicious. Savini is my first gelato in Milan. I ordered the new flavor (for me), Stracciatella, and matched it with cherry. Call me freak, but i would say this gelato combination really really really delicious.

6. Grom
Grom is the most popular gelato in Italy. You can find Grom in most of every city in Italy including Milan. What i like from Grom is the sorbet. Since Grom always serve anything 100% natural, it also belongs to the sorbet. The sorbet really fresh, because it’s made with 50% real fruit. They don’t out any flavorings, colors, preservatives, or emulsifiers of any kind, which can made a bitter taste.
